Weekend School
Dear Respected Brothers and Sisters,
Asalam alikum (may peace be upon you),
In November 2007, the Anniston Islamic Community decided to restart the weekend school operations to address the need for an Islamic institute within the northeast Alabama vicinity.
The mission of the Anniston Islamic Center’s Weekend Islamic School is to provide the utmost quality of Islamic education to students of ethnically diverse backgrounds, thereby nurturing growth and development within the community at large. The vision of the school is to educate and inspire all of our students to develop the Islamic characteristics and obtain knowledge, with the ability and strength to act upon it, InshAllah.
The Weekend Islamic School aims to provide educational programs that integrate ethics and fundamentals of Islam, Qu’ran recitation, as well as Arabic studies in a structured classroom setting. The Anniston Weekend Islamic School’s curriculum was adopted from the Birmingham Islamic Society’s Weekend Islamic School, which, Alhamduillah, has been operating successfully for several years.
Currently, the Weekend School accommodates students starting at age three and up to mid-teens, offering kindergarten to third grade classes. Classes are in session every Sunday (except holidays) from 10 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., consisting of three periods – Qur’anic studies, Islamic studies and Sirah of Rasulullah (may peach be upon him) – followed by Zuhur prayer. General instructions in all classes will be given in English.
The Weekend Islamic School is operated by a multicultural body of dedicated volunteers, who perform the faculty and administration functions. At this preliminary phase, we pray to Allah (SWT) to guide us in the right path and enable us to successfully establish and expand this educational facility, ameen.
JazakumAllah khairan,
AIC Management
